How to Make a DC Motor According Ehow

ElcoHow. - Do you want to make your own DC motor as your hobby in this day? Here are instruction to make a DC motor from ehow site as follow:

  • Wrap several loops of magnet wire around a coffee can. Leave 3 to 4 inches of wire uncoiled at the front and end of the loop.
  • Strip about 3 to 4 inches of coating off both ends of the wire.
  • Wrap both ends of the wire around the coil. Allow the end wires to protrude from the coiled wire.
  • Remove the coffee can and discard it.
  • Use sandpaper to remove the insulation from one of the wires.
  • Remove the insulation on the top of one of the wire ends, but leave the other side insulated.
  • Open and unfold a paper clip, bending it down the middle. Leave the long end looped and a hook on the short end. Repeat this procedure with a second paper clip.
  • Touch the loop ends of the paper clips, one at a time, to the ends of the D battery. Fasten the clips to the battery with a strong rubber band.
  • Attach a magnet to the side of the battery. Arrange the battery so that the paper clip leads are pointing slightly upward or at an angle away from the ground. Glue a portion of the battery with hot glue (optional) and place the battery on a wood board or other flat object. Allow the glue to dry. Your motor now has a stand for ballast.
  • Place the magnet wire loop in the center between the leads running from the battery. The leads are the ends of the paper clips protruding freely from the sides of the battery. Your looped motor will now spin.
